Tom Butler is the Owner/Operator of Precision Combat Sports. Tom holds a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, with 20 years experience in the Combat Sports.
Tom began training Martial Arts in 2006 under Jeremy Harminson at True Believers Gym, where he trained & competed in Muay Thai Kickboxing and Mixed Martial Arts. Due to the deep pedigree of combat sports in Coles County, Tom was exposed to high level striking from Harminson & the team, as well as Grappling from local fighters at the Eastern Illinois Wrestling Room. The EIU wrestling room was comprised of professional fighters who were following in the footsteps of Matt Hughes and the culture that he created there. These would lend as great teachers to Tom, as he began to build his game and train / teach others.
Through this process, Tom found his passion. To train, instruct, and lead others. Tom is a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under the world renowned Coach Heath Pedigo. While competing in Mixed Martial Arts is behind him, he still enjoys competing in Jiu-Jitsu and training MMA.
Youth Jiu Jitsu
This program is designed for students, boys & girls ages 7-12 years old. Where they learn fundamentals of Jiu-Jitsu through structured drills & sparring. Our classes are designed to not only teach students Jiu-Jitsu, but to also instill life lessons. We place a high value on teaching students how to actively listen, follow instructions, all with hard work and a positive attitude. Our students often enter local grappling tournaments where they can advance their Jiu-Jitsu through competition, competition training and learning advanced techniques.
Adult Jiu Jitsu
The style of Jiu-Jitsu most practiced at PRECISION COMBAT is most suitable for competition / real application (fighting & self defense). We follow the training model and carry the same culture from PEDIGO SUBMISSION FIGHTING that has produced countless Champions.
We place a heavy priority on Team. When new people begin their journey, it is the Team who rallies around to help them along. The intent is for everyone to help one another achieve their goals, when One wins we all win! Everyone on the mats is a contributor to our culture, competitors & hobbyists alike.
